December 2, 2010 (CARY, NC) -- The Third Expression, a popular instrumental band on the local music scene, will provide a benefit performance for Nowell’s Fund To Fight Multiple Myeloma kick-off event on Tuesday, December 7, from 6-8 p.m. The event will be held in Nowell’s Contemporary Furniture at 900 East Chatham Street in Cary. The public is invited and there is no cover charge.
The Third Expression combines an eclectic array of influences ranging from classic pop, jazz, and old-school roots music to more exotic flavors. The band features Mike Krause on guitar, Danny Kurtz on bass, and Chris Stephenson on drums.
Krause, Kurtz and Stephenson have performed and recorded with such luminaries as Tift Merritt, Caitlin Cary, Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Ryan Adams, Dexter Romweber, The Connells, The Backsliders, and Chris Stamey, among others. Krause is also a member of the popular cover band Crush.
The event kicks off Nowell’s effort to raise awareness of multiple myeloma, a blood plasma cancer, and to raise money for research at Duke Medicine. Along with entertainment by The Third Expression, the kick-off event will include refreshments and door prizes – such as a $250 gift certificate to Nowell's -- as well as a brief presentation on the store’s efforts to benefit Multiple Myeloma Cancer Research at Duke Medicine.
Nowell’s is raising funds to benefit cancer research through an online furniture auction going on until December 31 and through a special offer from furniture manufacturer Ekornes: Anyone who buys a Stressless Recliner at Nowell’s from now through January 17 and donates $50 to Duke Medicine will save $200 on the purchase price of the Recliner.
“We hope lots of folks will join us for the event, and we can’t thank The Third Expression enough for providing the entertainment,” said Nowell’s owner Jerry Nowell, who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma earlier this year.
