What this town needs is an Old Time Raleigh Shopping Center with a Piggly Wiggly Store as an anchor, a full service Southern States Cooperative perhaps with Ace Hardware combined into one, a Hobby Shop that sells Testors Paints, etc. and the list goes on and on... We used to have all these here but now one needs to drive up to 50 miles in multiple directions just to find the closest of these places that has what you're looking for.

I'm sure there are at least a few existing shopping centers in the Raleigh area that are currently having near-death experiences due to their locations and the odd mixes of tenants still remaining that are duplicates of others in more convenient locations nearby but there are none that have all the things mentioned above located together in one place. A bit of retooling of an old existing shopping center could put a formerly poor location back on the map as it would surely beat all that excessive driving.

I like places where one can walk in and find what they need in a matter of minutes without getting lost in some huge maze filled with stuff you dont need while searching for something that may or may not exist. To have all these kinds of old time tenants located in a single shopping center in our area would be ideal in my opinion. Any other old-time tenants anyone can think of that are now far away that could be added to make up the core tenants in our ideal dream vision of an 'Old Time Raleigh' Shopping Center?
