Saturday, October 16 - Come join the NC Triangle Chapter of the US Green Building Council and the Builders of Hope for an exciting day of construction and green education sessions at the State Street project in Southeast Raleigh. Advance registration is required at www.triangleusgbc.org/events.

Help to build a new community for families in need in our area and participate in educational sessions throughout the day.

From 9am - 5pm the Builders of Hope Volunteer Day Event construction shifts and education sessions on Greening Your Home, Affordable LEED Homes, Understanding Stimulus Funds and Community: The Secret Ingredient in Sustainability.

This is the second annual Builders of Hope Volunteer Day and the event is free and open to the community, university students, USGBC members & affiliates. Must be 18 years or older to participate. This is an educational outreach opportunity for green education, as well as an opportunity for the community to give back and support green development for low income families in our area.

Builders for Hope is a 501(c)(3) and is a non-profit affordable housing developer, rebuilding homes and providing safe, affordable, energy-efficient housing for families with low to moderate household incomes.

The State Street Village is a 24 home cul-de-sac community built within the Builders of Hope green rehabilitation model. Situated on the corner of Martin Luther King Blvd. and State Street, with views of downtown Raleigh, it is conveniently located near Chavis Park, a wetland education center, greenways, multiple universities, employment and shopping. Public transit is less than a block away.
