RALEIGH, N.C. –One of the Triangle’s most highly decorated salons received its very own special makeover.
Blo has expanded its salon in Brier Creek Commons from 2,100 to nearly 5,000 square feet. With the added space, Blo introduces new services, which include two makeup styling galleries and a waxing room. The construction also transforms the award-winning salon space to add a second color bar, and a second styling gallery, each with room for 12 guests.
The expansion transforms Blo into the largest hair salon in North Carolina. With the newly appointed space, Owner Bryan Nunes is adamant about retaining the salon’s “pockets of intimacy” as guests seek the latest style trends in hair and makeup to establish their own signature looks.
“Our design team is dedicated to maintaining the sense of community that guests feel with their stylists, while providing an upscale salon experience,” said Nunes. “Blo is a distinctive environment, one where some of the state’s most highly trained designers support each other to provide exceptional service. We’re all about hair, and our workspace reflects the seriousness with which we take our craft.”
The expanded space has 96 windows, providing unparalleled natural lighting to ensure designers can work to achieve perfect hair color balance. The addition of a second color bar also enables Blo to demonstrate the latest color techniques. Nunes said his team has recently launched a unique service for all first-time color customers.
“This special pre- and post-treatment helps to prepare guests’ hair for the color service, while ensuring color longevity,” he said. Blo designers use Redken’s latest Cover Fusion product to assist in penetrating color-resistant grays and ensure optimum color absorption within the hair.
Nunes expects the added excitement of the new space and expanded services to be popular among guests. His design team is primed for the excitement. Blo is home to nine Redken-certified haircolorists; the most of any salon in North Carolina. Designers complete extensive training at New York’s Redken Exchange.
The addition of makeup styling galleries allows Blo’s design team to be the area’s exclusive salon for Mirabella Makeup. Reviewers call Mirabella “a miracle.” Some have suggested that it has “seemingly cracked the code for providing the perfect mineral foundation formula for every skin tone and type,” according to MegsMakeup.com, a nationally recognized weblog providing unbiased beauty products reviews to 10,000 daily subscribers.
“Women can recreate the ‘Oh, Wow!’ feeling at home that they get when they look in the mirror after a salon makeup experience,” said the editorial team at The Makeup Divas weblog.
Kim Crow, style writer at the Cleveland Plain Dealer, said, “Look to the [Mirabella] line for classic colors in beautiful, long-lasting formulations that are as easy to apply as they are to wear. The line, created for woman of all ages, is well worth the time spent tracking it down.”
Thanks to Blo, accessibility of Mirabella in this region is no longer a challenge for Triangle residents. Other features of the Blo expansion include:
• Wi-Fi access for guests at the color bars.
• A modern sound system with volume controls in 10 zones to maintain Blo’s unique salon experience.
• The ability to book and modify appointments using a smart phone, iPad, or computer.
Blo’s reputation stretches nationally. With added space, the salon expects to continue to be a hot spot destination for fashion and style photo shoots. Recent shoots have been published in international beauty magazines Qvest, Modern Salon and numerous PASSION Magazine publications. Blo also was recently named one of America’s top 100 salons by ELLE Magazine.
Located in Brier Creek Commons, conveniently equidistant to Raleigh and Durham, N.C., Blo is home to “a lot of hot hair” thanks to a talented design team providing a distinctive experience without the pretension typically associated with upscale salons. Blo is one of three domestic salons to receive the industry’s highest honor of a 2008 Global Salon Business Award. This bi-annual, international recognition has afforded Blo with the opportunity to host numerous fashion and style publications’ photo shoots. Also home to the region’s one and only “24-Hour Cut-A-Thon” charity event, Blo has donated more than $33,000 to area nonprofits in the last three years.
