The North Carolina Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America was recognized as a PRSA chapter winner at the 2013 PRSA International Conference held in Philadelphia. The chapter was awarded third prize for its “Band Together NC Promotional Campaign” at the second annual PRServing America™ awards competition.

Band Together NC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that uses live music as a platform for social change. Since its inception in 2001, the organization’s annual main concert event has grown to become the largest annual charitable music event in the Southeast. This year, Band Together raised more than $860,000 for Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities.

NCPRSA’s entry was compiled by S&A Cherokee, a full-service communications company based in Cary. The 2013 promotional campaign for Band Together encompassed branding, messaging, media relations, e-newsletters, print collateral, media sponsorships, photography, videos, public service announcements, social media and more.

PRServing America™ is a program that recognizes and rewards PRSA and PRSSA chapters for their pro-bono efforts to strengthen and preserve the communities in which they work. The program additionally emphasizes the important and impactful charitable work that is an inherent part of the public relations profession.
