Garner Rotary Oyster Fest for Scholarships Scheduled for Oct. 24
GARNER, N.C. – The Garner Rotary Club has announced that the ninth annual Garner Rotary Club Oyster Fest will be held on Oct. 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Fidelity Business Park.
Funds raised from the Oyster Fest are used to fund college scholarships for select students attending Garner area high schools. The Garner Rotary Club has given away nearly $150,000 in scholarship funds over the past 20 years.
For $25, patrons will enjoy an all-you-can-eat affair catered by 42nd Street Oyster Bar of Raleigh. The menu includes oysters, 42nd Street’s famous seafood bisque and clam chowder, mini popcorn shrimp, and barbecue sandwiches and hot dogs (for non-seafood-eating patrons). In addition, each meal comes with French fries, banana pudding and iced tea. A cash bar will also be available.
Entertainment will be provided by the Band of Oz, one of the area’s most popular bands. In case of inclement weather, the Oyster Fest will be held on Monday, Oct. 28.
Tickets may be purchased at the door, or in advance from a member of the Garner Rotary Club or at the Garner Chamber of Commerce.
The Garner Rotary Club is affiliated with Rotary International, one of the world’s largest civic and humanitarian organizations, with over 2 million members worldwide. The Garner Rotary Club meets at Lord of Life Lutheran Church each Wednesday at 7 a.m.
