North Carolina PR and Marketing Seminar to Focus on Innovation and Creativity

Communication professionals continually face new challenges requiring skills and industry updates to gain a competitive advantage in multiple areas from social media to media relations. The North Carolina Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (www.ncprsa.org) presents a full-day lineup of educational sessions that will help communicators and marketers recognize creativity and innovation.
The 2012 Public Relations & Marketing Seminar will be held Nov. 15, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill. For only $295 through October 31though ($365 for non-members), attendees will get a full day of networking, professional development sessions, and round-table discussions offering them the opportunity to directly ask questions of industry experts. Registration rates beginning Nov. 1 are $315 for members and $395 for non-members.
The keynote speaker is Alan Cohen, president of Acts of Balance. He is a leadership coach, HR consultant and trainer who works primarily with PR agency executives. His talk, titled “Leadership Lessons Learned from Harry Potter,” is based on his experience marketing the Harry Potter novels. It illustrates how a team worked together, under tension and high stakes, to create one of the most powerful brands in entertainment and the impact of energy and attitude on team performance. During the address, he will illustrate the most important talents that every leader in PR can embody – including vision, passion, humility, integrity, and creating powerful teams.
