Better Business Bureau serving Eastern North Carolina announces today that Curtis Media Group is serving as promotional sponsor of the “Secure Your ID” Day event on Saturday, October 20, 2012. The local shredding and electronics recycling event will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Coastal's headquarters at 1000 St. Albans Drive in Raleigh.
Four stations, WPTF, Pulse 102, Radio 96.1 and Funny 570, will be promoting the event to their listeners. WPTF will also feature a live interview with Toby Barfield, president and CEO of BBB serving Eastern North Carolina at 7:50 a.m. on October 19.
“Identity protection is more important than ever,” says Phil Zachary, president, Curtis Media Group. “I am glad we have the opportunity to partner with the BBB in providing our listeners with a safe and free way to dispose of sensitive documents and old electronic devices.”
During the event, local shredding partner, PROSHRED® will provide free, on-site document shredding. Participants are encouraged to bring up to three boxes or bags of sensitive documents that have been removed from binders. GEEP will also be on hand to provide electronics recycling of computers, tablets and cell phones. BBB and Coastal will provide tips and resources to help consumers protect their identity.
“We are thankful to have the stations of Curtis Media Group help in promoting the event,” says Barfield. “Our combined efforts should have a lasting impact in spotlighting the importance of identity protection.”
BBB has hosted its “Secure Your ID” Day events locally since April 2008. Additional information is available at www.easternnc.bbb.org/secure-your-id.
