In April, Governor Perdue signed a proclamation making September 21, 2012 “North Carolina CPA Day of Service.” Coordinated by the North Carolina Association of CPAs, accounting firms across the state were challenged to make a difference in their communities. Continuing its support of the Triangle community, Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP, one of the largest CPA firms headquartered and staffed in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina, accepted the challenge and 23 firm members volunteered to assist with a Habitat for Humanity home in Raleigh.
“Many of the firm members individually give of their skills and time to non-profit boards and business start-up programs,” says Nikita Gowin, HR coordinator for HPG. “The CPA Day of Service gave us a chance to work as a team on the home.”
HPG has a longstanding commitment to community involvement. In addition to its support of Habitat for Humanity, the firm and its members have supported numerous programs and organizations that improve the quality of life for Triangle residents. These include the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, North Raleigh Ministries, the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Raleigh Food Bank, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Boy Scouts of America.
