PROSHED® Partners with BBB to Help Fight Identity Theft

Better Business Bureau serving Eastern North Carolina announces today that PROSHRED^® Security is sponsoring its “Secure Your ID” Day event on Saturday, October 20, 2012. PROSHRED^® will provide free document shredding from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Coastal Federal Credit Union headquarters on St. Albans Drive in Raleigh.

PROSHRED^® is a locally owned and nationally operated network that offers on-site document destruction and recycling services to businesses and consumers. This is the fifth consecutive year the company has partnered with BBB for “Secure Your ID” Day.

“As identity theft concerns continue to grow, shredding personal documents is a simple, yet effective, way to reduce the risk of becoming a victim,” says Jim Klemes, PROSHRED^® general manager. “The ‘Secure Your ID’ Day events are a great benefit to Triangle residents, and we are proud to once again partner with BBB.”

Participants are encouraged to bring up to three boxes or bags of documents that have been removed from binders. In addition to free document shredding, BBB and other partner organizations will provide tips and resources to help consumers protect their identity.

“Secure Your ID” Day is jointly organized by the Council of Better Business Bureaus and the National Foundation for Credit Counseling to raise public awareness and educate Americans on the issues surrounding identity theft. During the event, local partner Costal Federal Credit Union will be on hand educating consumers on protecting their identity. GEEP will also be providing electronics recycling. Curtis Media Group stations WPTF, Pulse 102 , Radio 96.1 and Funny 570 are serving as promotional partners for the event.
