Raleigh, N.C., May 22, 2012- Lotus Survival Foundation, a local nonprofit focused on providing education, resources and support to those who have been affected by breast cancer, will be hosting the first annual Laughter for the Cause fundraising event at Sparians Bowling Boutique, 141 Park at North Hills Street #120 in Raleigh, on August 18, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. All proceeds from the event will help low-income men and women affected by breast cancer have access to the education, resources and knowledge they need to cope with and survive breast cancer.
“We are excited to be throwing our first major fundraising event, and we look forward to having some fun while promoting a worthy cause,” said Claudia Tovar de Aguirre, president and founder of Lotus Survival Foundation. “Many men and women affected by this sickness, especially those in the Hispanic community, do not have the resources they need to mentally and emotionally cope, and we strive through our foundation to help these individuals by encouraging health, hope and healing.”
Laughter for the Cause will be hosted by Barbara Gibbs, of ABC 11 Eyewitness News, and sponsored by Cary Magazine, KIX 102.9 and Que Pasa Newspaper. The event will feature a bowling tournament with local media celebrities, Muddy and Stormythe mascots, food, drinks, games, activities, prizes and more. There will also be a raffle and silent auction, including a grand prize 3-4 night stay in a deluxe hotel in Cancun, Mexico.
Tickets are $20 per person, which includes two non-alcoholic drinks, food, bowling and shoe rental. All children 6 and under will be admitted for free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.lotussurvivalfoundation.org or by calling 919-342-0732.
